Let's Get Preppy Turns 1!

On this day one year ago, I posted my first blog post on Let's Get Preppy. It was a goal that was achieved about six months after I first considered the idea of starting a blog. While it took much longer to achieve than I had expected, I am so glad that I followed through with it.

In all honesty, it doesn't feel like I have been blogging for a whole year. Looking back on it though, this past year would have been much more difficult without blogging. It was one of the most challenging and hard years of my life due to school and extra curriculars, but blogging really was a creative outlet that I am thankful I could always come back to.

I've made many friends this past year via blogging, multiple connections on different social media sites, and even met readers in person. Had someone told me all this would have occurred when I hit "publish" 365 days ago, I would not have believed them. I am always so overwhelmed and overjoyed at the positivity and encouragement of the blogging community.
I've learned so many life hacks ranging from URL coding to simply editing pictures. It's been one incredible year and I look forward to hopefully many more years of blogging!
I want to thank each and every one of you for reading the content posted on LGP, following, liking, and commenting on all social media forms, and being interested in the Chicago blogger and Disney enthusiast with a love for anything pink! It's the most rewarding feeling to have others continually support and encourage the work put into blogging. Here's to another year!

Meeting Katelyn of Sprinkles of Kate!

One of my favorite things about the blogging world is the connections that I have made through it. It's been a surprise, but I absolutely love being part of it! One of these connections has been with Katelyn, a fellow Chicagoland blogger. We had planned on meeting one another at the Live Smart Chicago conference, but unfortunately it was cancelled. However, this didn't stop us from meeting up!

On Tuesday, we met downtown at the Sprinkles Cupcakes which is definitely one of my favorite spots for a sweet treat! After countless pictures (bloggers gonna blog), we enjoyed our delicious cupcakes and got to know one another. Katelyn is the sweetest and it was so fun to get to know each other further!

Sprinkles is right by the new Vineyard Vines Rush Street store so we headed there for a bit of shopping and a bit more picture taking. Since we were both in Vineyard Vines dresses, it was the perfect photo op! The staff was so kind to give us foam whale hats and let us come behind the counter.

After a bit more shopping around the area, Katelyn and I headed to the prettiest two-story Starbucks to chat about all things blogging. It was so fun to be able to talk about blogging with another blogger and both being high schoolers in the Chicago area, we had so much common ground. It was such a wonderful afternoon!

The connections and friendships I have made through blogging are something that I never thought I would experience when I started almost a year ago. Having made friends across the country as well as meeting two Chicago bloggers, I am so thankful to have experienced such wonderful connections via blogging. I hope to meet up with Katelyn again soon for more cupcake and shopping adventures!
Have you ever met a friend through blogging?

Happy 4th!

Happy Fourth of July! May your day be filled with red, white, and blue. I always look forward to the holiday because I go to my grandparents' house in Iowa and spend a few days with family. It's so fun! We catch a parade, have a barbecue, watch fireworks and enjoy lots of laughs.

This Gap seersucker dress is perfect for the Fourth and the red Kate Spade belt is the perfect patriotic touch. Comfort, casual, and patriotic -- an ideal mix for a warm summer July day!

What are you wearing today? Hope you have a happy fourth!
